3rd Year Drawing was all about fungi
Intensive Drawing for 3rd year happened over January and February 2024. It was a great time of focussed drawing for me and a large contingent of students.
I went deep into playing with inks and different papers, and used the theme of fungi as an overarching idea to hold all the works together.
I also created a short film that included some of my works and some vision of ink cap mushrooms I found on creative commons.
The most fun construction, though, was a 3-dimensional mushroom cap. It is made from mild steel and has a sewn fabric covering (a recycled bed sheet). The gills I made from recycled paper (which I also made by hand at home).
I don't know how this work was received by lecturers because we haven't been given results yet. But what a joy it was to play with a welder again after a little break.
