I have just found out that Joseph Zarb has completed his new CD called AQUI SIAN BEN:
You might have come across Jose through his band, Marsala (here is a youtube clip of Marsala: http://youtu.be/UCNS6YwmhXg ), or as singer and guitarist in the Pure Bohemia nights that are on in various Sydney venues and that I have mentioned in an earlier blog post.
Here is some more information about this artist, Jose and his co-conspirator in creating the album, Damian de Boos-Smith:
"As most of you know my day job involves in being dressed in a suit, playing a guitar on the street somewhere and meeting really inspiring people who laugh or cry or dance with me in their suits or beautiful dresses or their way to work or during their lunch break. And then I stop and we tell each other stories and hug and sometimes they buy my CD and sometimes we become friends but we always go away feeling better and stronger because sharing a moment of human contact is necessary and wonderful.
And now I have just released a new album called AQUI SIAN BEN
It means 'We feel good here'. I mean that when we meet like this we feel right and well.
With this album I am really attempting to bring this experience to people who I might not get to meet, or dance with or hug...
This is a sonically gorgeous album. I recorded this album at Flying Bark Studios in Camperdown with Damian de Boos-Smith. Damian not only did a great job of engineering but also plays Cello and Fretless Bass on the album. In many ways this is as much his album as mine and you will really feel his presence there.
We have planned a concert at the Opera House for 6th Nov 2015 and would like to offer FREE TICKETS for anyone who buys more than two physical copies of the Album from my website www.jose.net.au
As you all know going online is tricky for musicians because although everyone really does value our music and is happy to put money toward it, it is now also possible for music to be shared free. So although we really can't control this we are asking friends not to put this album up for free but to send the links to their friends rather than the album."
I have just bought a copy of the CD myself... can't wait to listen to it. When I do I will see in my mind's eye Jose in the city connecting with friends and strangers and bringing unfiltered joy to so many people.
