It has been a while since I made time to focus on painting. The last couple of years have been spent on photographic, sculptural, exhibition and organisational gigs. However I am reinvigorated. In fact, I am so switched on to the concept of painting again that I jumped in a week ago and asked someone I had only just met if I could paint a portrait of him with a view to entering it into the Archibald next year. It was a shock to me that he immediately agreed. Thank you Ian Cooper.
This man is amazing - a completely talented virtuoso violinist who can switch seamlessly from style to style: classical concert, backing sessions, jazz, & country. He is an arranger, composer, performer, sound engineer, pilot, yachtsman and a doting dad. And yet he was gracious enough to say yes to my outrageous request without hesitation, and has managed to fit a sitting into his very busy schedule.
So watch this space.
