I went to see a demonstration on Abstract painting by Jan Cristuado at the Mosman Art Gallery & Community Centre. I was there because I have admired Jan's work for a long time and really wanted to support her as well as try to get an idea of the creative processes involved.
I absolutely LOVED the demonstration. And while I was there I met some members of the Mosman Art Society, who hosted the event. Within minutes I had become a member and was invited to join in the members' 20th Anniversary Exhibition.
I was a bit amused with my instant positive responses - joining the Society and agreeing to exhibit. It has been a new mindset of mine, ever since I met and shared a studio space with Midori Furze. This amazing woman has the most positive go-getter attitude and a huge amount of creative energy to match. Some of her wisdom and attitude rubbed off onto me in the short time we spent in the same studio space together, and I have had only positive things happen to me since.
The whole exhibition process was made easy by the huge support from Mosman Art Society Treasurer via email to get my entries to the exhibition on time - thanks Elise Brooks. This week I found out that my sculpture, Enchanted Steel, has sold. This stainless steel sculpture has been in my backyard gathering biota for a while, and I was so disorganised that when I delivered it in the final 10 minutes of the time allocated, there was dirt on the base.
The professional gallery staff allowed me to leave it regardless, without even the slightest hint of the horror they must have felt that anyone would ever be so inconsiderate to deliver a piece in that state. They cleaned the base for me and brought it to its best state for display. I can't thank them enough for their brilliant attitude, because anything else would likely have seen me take it home in self-disgust.
Instead, it has found a new admirer and home.

What a reward !
